Protect Domain WHOIS - ID Protect Service Available
Publish Date: Thursday, August 2, 2007
It is our pleasure to announce that we have launched a new service that concerns the security of your domain names. The service is called ID Protect (also known as WHOIS / ID Protect) and its aim is to protect the information displayed in the WHOIS of your domain(s) from spammers, fraudsters and solicitors who use the WHOIS data (e-mail addresses, phone numbers, etc.) illegally. This means that, once you have activated this, our domain registrar will display fictitious details in the WHOIS, so that the real information will not be visible anymore. Of course, the e-mails that are sent to the fictitious e-mail address will be filtered and forwarded to the real e-mail address that is set in the WHOIS.
You can order ID Protect service only for domain names registered with our registrar. The service has an expiration date that is not related to the expiration date of the domain name and is available for the .com / .net / .org / .biz / .info TLDs. Unfortunately it is not possible to order protection of country domain names like the .us TLD.
Let's see how to activate WHOIS protection for your domains.
Order ID Protect with new domain(s)
To order this service you must start the domain registration process from the Domain Manager in the hosting Control panel. At the top of the domain WHOIS / Order page, you can see the domain name(s) that must be registered with the option to activate ID Protect service and for how many years. You will know that a domain is registered and ID Protect service is activated, if you find a green-shield-icon in the Domain Manager All Registered tab. |
Order ID Protect for already registered domain(s)
The easiest way to order ID Protect service for domain that is registered with us, is to click the Add link in the ID Protect column of the Domain Manager, for the domain that must be protected.
Another possible way is to use the Quick Controls option in the upper-left corner of the web Control panel. In the WHOIS section of the panel that will open, you must click on the Order ID Protect link. If ID Protect service has been activated for this domain already, at the place of the link there will be a Manage ID Protect link that can be used to enable or disable the service.
The third way to order the service is when you choose the Edit WHOIS option in the Domain Manager - the green Order WHOIS / ID Protection link will allow you to order ID Protect.

Manage the ID Protect service
The web Control panel allows the ID Protect service to be enabled or disabled at any time. There are two ways to do that - either with a single click on the green shield for the selected domain name in the Domain Manager, or through the Quick Controls panel where there is a Manage ID Protect. A possible reason for disabling the service is when a domain name is being transferred away to a different registrar, because the approval of the transfer request is done usually via e-mail. |
We will continue our works in direction of improving the web control panel and adding new features to it so there will be more news soon.
